WHO Webinar: Empowered Communities: Lessons From Successful Initiatives to End TB

25 January 2025

The World Health Organization (WHO) will be convening a series of webinars entitled “Community voices: driving solutions to End TB”. The webinars will be co-hosted with WHO’s Civil Society Task Force on Tuberculosis (CSTF-TB). By amplifying community voices and showcasing impactful initiatives, the series aims to inspire action, foster collaboration, and contribute to the collective goal of ending TB globally.

The first of these webinars, Empowered communities: lessons from successful initiatives to end TB will be held on 30 January 2025 from 14h30 to 15h30 CET. The webinar will highlight the critical role of community-led initiatives in ending TB, drawing on key lessons learned from the recently published Case studies on engagement of communities and civil society to end TB. It will showcase the power of community-driven responses through real-world examples of successful community engagement interventions in diverse contexts including Indonesia, Kenya and Ukraine, from the following speakers:

  • Ani Herna Sari from Rekat Peduli: Empowering survivors in Indonesia
  • Timpiyian Leseni from Talaku: Supporting families to fight TB in Kenya
  • Evgenia Geliukh from Alliance for Public Health: TB care in wartime in Ukraine

The event is open to all stakeholders in the fight to end TB, with a special invitation to civil society and communities affected by TB.
