Stop TB Partnership: Innovative Near-POC Pulslife TB Test Available in GDF Catalogue for $3.60

The Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility (GDF) announced the expansion of its portfolio with the addition of the new near point-of-care (near-POC) TB test manufactured by Guangzhou Pluslife Biotech (Guangzhou, China) for a price of $3.60 per test. Pluslife’s MTB Nucleic Acid Test Card is used on the Minidock Ultra device after sample pretreatment on the Thermolyse device; these devices are also available in the GDF Catalog for $155 and $180, respectively.

With its simple, portable instrumentation and reagents that can be stored at temperatures up to 40℃, the Pluslife TB test provides results within less than 30 minutes. The test can be run using tongue swabs or swabbed sputum, and is currently being assessed by the World Health Organization for potential policy recommendation within a new class of near-POC nucleic acid amplification tests. The Pluslife TB test has been added to the GDF Catalog based on its approval by the Global Fund’s Expert Review Panel for Diagnostics for use with swabbed sputum.
