[Contemporary Pediatrics] FDA Approves First Generic Rifapentine for TB Treatment, Prevention in 12 Years and Older

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first generic version of rifapentine tablets, previously marketed as Priftin, expanding access to a key component of treatment regimens for both active pulmonary TB and latent TB infection.

Rifapentine is indicated for active pulmonary TB in patients aged 12 years and older and latent TB infection in patients aged 2 years and older who are at high risk of progression.
