Community Webinar on Tests for TB and Drug-Resistance – Materials Now Available Online

18 July 2025

The World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for diagnosing TB have evolved along with available technologies and tools that are increasingly accurate, simple, and efficient at detecting TB and resistance to a wider range of TB drugs. Despite this progress, 2.7 million individuals with TB still remain undiagnosed and undetected.

On 17 July 2025, Treatment Action Group (TAG) hosted a community webinar on tests for TB and drug resistance. The webinar broke down the latest WHO guidelines and explored the most effective tools for diagnosing TB and drug resistance.

The webinar also launched TAG’s updated resource, An Activist’s Guide to Diagnostic Tools for Tuberculosis, and provided a deep dive into two sections of the Guide: (1) the array of WHO-recommended diagnostic tools and how they should be optimally used in country programs; and (2) key access considerations and actions activists can take to ensure that all people at risk of TB receive quality TB diagnostic testing.

Recording of the webinar and slides presented are now available online and can be accessed here.
