WHO Releases Implementation FAQs to Accelerate Uptake of New TB Diagnostic Recommendations Following African Region Workshop

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a new set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to support countries in implementing its latest recommendations on near point-of-care testing, tongue swab-based testing and sputum pooling strategies for TB diagnosis. The FAQs were developed in response to discussions and questions raised during the regional workshop “Accelerating Progress Towards Ending TB in the African Region”, jointly organized by WHO and KNCV in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 23–25 June 2026, with support from Unitaid and the Global Fund.
