Help TAG Track TB Research Funding Disruptions
30 July 2025
Since assuming office in January 2025, the Trump Administration has slashed funding for medical research through a series of executive orders, funding suspensions, grant terminations, and procedural delays. An executive order prohibiting United States Government financial assistance to South Africa, a pause on foreign subawards at the National Institutes of Health pending a new award structure, and funding suspensions targeting specific universities have put many important tuberculosis (TB) studies at risk.
Treatment Action Group (TAG) is tracking TB grant terminations to document the impact of Trump Administration policies and funding cuts on TB research. TAG is asking scientists to submit information on existing awards that have been terminated as well as funding applications at risk via a simple, secure form. The form is hosted on Cryptpad, a platform that is end-to-end encrypted. When completing the form, you’ll have the option to submit information anonymously for an added layer of security.
TAG will use the information submitted to understand the extent of funding disruptions on TB research so that they can better advocate to restore funding and save important studies and research initiatives.
If you have had a TB research grant terminated or a funding application that has been affected, please consider completing this form and sharing it with other TB researchers within your professional network.
For questions about this effort, please reach out to TAG_TB@protonmail.com.
For utmost privacy & security, TAG recommends accessing the form via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or The Onion Router (ToR), browsers that obfuscate user IP addresses to help maintain anonymity.
